Anwar warns PKR members against sulking, demands work ethic

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim says there is no place in PKR for members who refuse to work and only complain, urging them to step down if unwilling.

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has declared there is no place in Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) for members who refuse to work and instead choose to sulk and complain.

The PKR president stressed that the mandate from the people is a responsibility to work diligently, not a licence to boast about positions. He delivered the warning at the Selangor PKR Convention 2026 in Gombak.

“If you are not willing to work, please step down. This party still has much work to do,” Anwar said. He warned against a half-hearted approach to responsibilities, stating that a culture of excessive complaining would only weaken the party.

He emphasised that political struggle requires discipline and a focus on strengthening unity. Anwar reiterated that PKR’s foundation is the Federal Constitution and the collective strength of all Malaysians.

“In our ranks, there are Malays, Chinese and Indians. That is our strength,” he said, rejecting politics of racial and religious division. He called on the entire party machinery to stand united in defending rights and truth.

The convention was attended by PKR leaders including deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar and secretary-general Datuk Fuziah Saleh.
