The Royal gesture: Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor supports local snacks

Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin supports a local snacks business, empowering women in business

SUPPORTING local small businesses can come in many forms, and for one Malaysian entrepreneur, it came in the most royal way.

Kunyahan, a local snacks business known for its aesthetic event stalls, received a prestigious visitor during a Raya sales event at KLCC.

The founder, Fatein Azrin, shared on Threads how Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, visited her booth and was impressed by her offerings.

In a video shared by Fatein, she introduced her snacks to Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin and Sultanah of Terengganu, Sultanah Nur Zahirah.

To her surprise, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin casually suggested setting up a Raya snack booth at an event she was hosting at Istana Selangor in Kuala Lumpur.

“You can sell there, bring your products. Who knows, my guests might buy them,” she said.

Fatein, overwhelmed, replied, “Tuanku, I’m scared,” to which the Tengku Permaisuri reassured her, “It is okay, can.”

The event turned into a remarkable milestone for the small business. Guests at the Tadabbur al-Quran event, including national icon Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza and renowned entrepreneur Datin Isma Rohaiza, visited the stall and purchased snacks.

For Fatein, this was a dream come true — a little business serving the royal household’s distinguished guests.

Beyond the gesture itself, the support highlighted Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin’s encouragement of local entrepreneurs, particularly women in business, empowering them to grow and thrive.

Netizens praised the royal support and expressed joy at seeing Fatein’s happiness, wishing continued success for her growing venture.
