Police seek ‘Ong Wei Hai’ in Butterworth suitcase murder investigation

Butterworth police search for Ong Wei Hai to assist in murder probe after man’s body found stuffed in suitcase near Ampang Jajar Flats.

BUTTERWORTH: Police are searching for a local man named Ong Wei Hai to assist investigations into a murder case where a victim was found stuffed in a suitcase.

Seberang Perai Utara district police chief ACP Anuar Abdul Rahman identified the wanted individual as 41-year-old Ong Wei Hai.

His last known address was at A-7-07, Villa Tanjung, Jalan Villa Tanjung in Butterworth.

Police are appealing for public cooperation from anyone with information about Ong Wei Hai or the case.

Investigating officer ASP Norhaslinda Rahmat can be contacted at 04-576 2222 extension 2275 for information sharing.

Alternatively, members of the public can visit their nearest police station to assist with the investigation.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

Police previously arrested four individuals in connection with this case on October 22.

Two men and two women aged between 24 and 42 were detained separately in Penang and Perak.

Media reports had earlier revealed the discovery of a man’s body inside a suitcase near Ampang Jajar Flats.

The victim was later identified as 31-year-old Lee Boon Han from Butterworth.

Lee Boon Han’s family had reported him missing on October 8, one day before his body was discovered. – Bernama
