Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe is undergoing treatment in Paris for a knee sprain, with the club confirming a conservative, non-surgical plan.
REAL MADRID superstar Kylian Mbappe was in Paris on Monday for treatment on a knee injury.
The France captain’s entourage confirmed the visit, stating no surgery is currently planned.
Real Madrid later issued a statement confirming the diagnosis of a sprain in Mbappe’s left knee. The club said the forward is following a “conservative” treatment plan agreed with their medical staff.
Mbappe has been struggling with an injury to the external ligament of his left knee since late 2025. He missed last week’s Champions League play-off second leg against Benfica due to “persistent pain” in training.
His entourage insisted there is no disagreement over his treatment between his club and the French national team. France will be desperate to have their captain fully fit for the upcoming World Cup.
Real Madrid coach Alvaro Arbeloa said the decision for Mbappe to stop and recover was a consensus. “We think the best thing is that he stops, that he recovers and comes back at 100 percent,” Arbeloa told broadcaster Movistar.
“It’s not going to be a question of days, it will be a bit longer, but I can’t say how long, hopefully not too long.”
It remains to be seen if the 38-goal striker will be fit for the Champions League last-16 tie against Manchester City. The first leg is scheduled for March 11.
France have friendlies against Brazil and Colombia in the United States at the end of March. Their first World Cup game is on June 16 against Senegal.
