Works Minister says viral image of Trump’s motorcade on Malaysian highway highlights nation’s world-class road infrastructure achievements
KUALA LUMPUR: A viral image of United States President Donald Trump’s motorcade traveling along a Malaysian highway during the 47th ASEAN Summit has highlighted the nation’s world-class infrastructure achievements.
Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi stated that the photo originally posted by Trump’s press secretary drew global praise for the smoothness, cleanliness and beauty of Malaysia’s road infrastructure.
He noted that the viral post reminded both international viewers and Malaysians about the country’s exceptional infrastructure development.
Nanta emphasized that this recognition should motivate further improvements in national infrastructure maintenance and development.
He declared that road maintenance represents more than just physical upkeep but embodies national dignity, safety and future readiness.
The minister delivered these remarks during his speech at the Malaysian Road Maintenance Convention 2025 and MY-ASEAN Roads and Traffic Tech Expo 2025 at MITEC.
Nanta highlighted Malaysia’s extensive road network spanning over 260,000 kilometres as among the best-maintained in the ASEAN region.
He credited this achievement to decades of commitment from the Public Works Department, Malaysian Highway Authority and highway concessionaires.
The minister also praised the ministry’s MyJalan app as an effective citizen engagement platform for road maintenance reporting.
He revealed that tens of thousands of issues have been reported and resolved through the application since its launch.
Nanta described the platform as symbolizing a culture of shared responsibility between government agencies and the public.
He concluded that road maintenance represents a collective national effort requiring participation from all stakeholders. – Bernama
