Sibu police seized drugs worth over RM120,000 and detained 221 individuals in a month-long anti-drug operation targeting methamphetamine.
SIBU: Police detained 221 individuals suspected of drug addiction and seized narcotics valued at over RM120,000 during a major operation here.
The month-long ‘Op Tapis Narkotik’ conducted from October 6 to November 6 targeted drug activities throughout the Sibu district.
Sibu police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili confirmed 206 men and 15 women were apprehended, including three foreign nationals.
Authorities confiscated 3,163.55 grammes of substances believed to be methamphetamine worth RM120,214.90.
Police have opened 256 investigation papers with 246 cases already charged in court under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
“Police welcome members of the public to come forward with drug-related information,” Zulkipli stated.
