PKR president Anwar Ibrahim names 10 candidates, including two incumbents and former deputy minister Yamani Hafez Musa, for Sabah polls
KOTA KINABALU: PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced 10 party candidates for the 17th Sabah State Election.
The prime minister revealed the lineup before approximately 5,000 supporters at the Sabah International Convention Centre.
He confirmed these seats form part of Pakatan Harapan’s 23 constituencies in the state election.
Two incumbents were retained: Datuk Peto Galim in Inanam and Datuk George Hiew Vun Zin in Karamunting.
Former deputy finance minister II Datuk Yamani Hafez Musa, son of Sabah governor Tun Musa Aman, will contest in Sindumin.
Former Putatan MP Datuk Awang Husaini Sahari, who leads Putatan PKR division, will stand in Petagas.
Newcomer Datuk Ruji Ubi, a former senior civil servant, will contest in Merotai.
Other candidates include former Kemabong assemblyman Datuk Jamawi Jaffar in Melalap.
Former Sri Pelancongan Sabah CEO Thonny Chee will contest in Api-Api.
Libaran Area Fishermen’s Association chairman Abdul Said Pimping will stand in Gum-Gum.
Former Malaysian Cocoa Board officer Romansa Lamin will contest in Segama.
Ex-teacher Rufinah Pengeran completes the lineup in Tulid.
The announcement marks PKR’s final candidate selection for the upcoming state election. – Bernama
