A woman’s house was nearly set on fire after neighbours launched fireworks dangerously close to her home, causing panic and property risks.
A woman returned home after tarawih prayers only to find a firework lying on the floor of her house — dangerously close to the curtains and electrical items.
The incident was shared by @nilza.azlin on Threads, who wrote that she arrived home around 10 pm just as her children had returned from prayers.
According to her post, neighbours had been setting off fireworks that shoot into the air at a covered court area in front of her house. When she looked out the window, she saw a few people standing there and acting uneasy.
Angered by how close the firework came to causing a fire, she shouted towards them, questioning how fireworks could end up flying into someone else’s home and asking who would take responsibility if the house caught fire.
What frustrated her further was that the people involved were not children.
In the same post, @nilza.azlin said the person she believed was behind the fireworks was someone she had known for years, a “so-called younger brother” whom she had helped raise, but the two had not spoken for nearly eight years.
She later shared the incident in her neighbourhood group chat as a warning, adding that the thought of what could have happened left her shaken, especially when imagining the house catching fire while her family was away.
Others in the replies shared similar incidents involving fireworks in residential areas.
@ida_hayad recalled warning a neighbour’s child who was playing with fireworks near an electric pole, only to be scolded by the child’s mother for interfering because she was unmarried and had no children.
Later that same night, the firework struck the pole, exploded, and caused a blackout across the neighbourhood. According to her, several homes suffered damage to electronics including laptops, televisions, air conditioners, and refrigerators.
Serious injuries were also mentioned.
@redroserooose shared that one of her Year 4 students recently lost a finger after playing with a ball firecracker. The student had been in class earlier that day, but later that night the school group chat reported that he had been admitted to hospital with his hand bandaged.
Property damage was another recurring concern.
@waniramlan232 said fireworks played by neighbours had once been aimed towards her house. Months later during the rainy season, a roofer discovered a large hole in the roof, with repair costs quoted in the tens of thousands.

Another commenter, @nurainatunadillah, shared an incident from eight years ago during Ramadan when children burning dry leaves accidentally caused a garage fire that spread to a car parked inside.
Her father managed to pull the burning vehicle out before the situation worsened.
For @nilza.azlin, the firework that landed inside her home did not cause any damage.
But she wrote that even after the incident ended, she was still shaking while thinking about how close it had come to starting a fire.
