PTPTN disburses RM36,000 in one-off RM500 grants to asnaf students from two polytechnics to ease their financial burden during studies
KUALA LUMPUR: The National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) has distributed its Bantuan Lestari Siswa MADANI to 72 asnaf students from two polytechnics.
Each student from Politeknik Nilai and Politeknik Port Dickson in Negeri Sembilan received a one-off grant of RM500. The initiative involved a total disbursement of RM36,000.
PTPTN chairman Datuk Seri Norliza Abdul Rahim said the aid aims to help students tackle financial challenges during their studies. Her speech text was read by PTPTN chief operations officer Mastura Mohd Khalid at a media iftar event.
Norliza added that PTPTN is running various corporate social responsibility programmes throughout Ramadan. These include the PTPTN Imarah Ramadan programme at higher education institutions, a sahur programme, and a Syawal celebration with orphans and asnaf.
She stated PTPTN remains committed to expanding its CSR programmes for students, particularly in education and welfare.
Norliza also expressed gratitude to the media for their role in disseminating PTPTN information. She said media help correct public perceptions and educate on loan repayment responsibilities.
The media also promote financial planning through PTPTN’s National Education Savings Scheme (Simpan SSPN). Norliza said PTPTN continues to strengthen savings culture via Simpan SSPN to reduce reliance on loans.
This ensures graduates are not burdened by debt after completing their studies.
Ahmad Imran Idris, a 22-year-old student from Politeknik Port Dickson, said the aid is a relief. He works part-time as a food delivery rider to cover daily expenses.
“This assistance will be used to cover expenses throughout my study period. Since my mother is a single parent without a job, this really helps ease the financial burden, especially during Ramadan when I receive fewer food delivery orders,” he said.
Another recipient, 21-year-old Nor Najwa Jasman from Politeknik Nilai, said the aid reduces her financial stress in academics and daily life.
Nor Najwa said her parents do not have high incomes. She is determined to utilise her PTPTN loan and the received aid to excel in her studies.
Her goal is to change her family’s fortunes for the better.
