PM Anwar to visit Sandakan fire victims tomorrow

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim will visit Sabah to meet victims of the Kampung Bahagia fire, inspecting relief centres and ensuring aid distribution.

KOTA KINABALU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to visit Sabah tomorrow to meet victims of the recent massive fire in Kampung Bahagia, Sandakan..

The Prime Minister is due to begin his inspection of the fire-affected area at Kampung Bahagia Mosque at 4.20 pm.

He will later visit displaced residents at three temporary relief centres (PPS), beginning with Sekolah Kebangsaan Gas at 4.35 pm, before proceeding to Dewan Program Perumahan Rakyat Taman Batu Sapi PPS at 5 pm.

Anwar will conclude his visit at the PPS at Dewan Lintas Sibuga at 5.30 pm, where he will observe conditions at the centre and ensure the smooth distribution of assistance to those affected.

The fire at the Kampung Bahagia water village occurred in the early morning of April 19, reportedly destroying 1,000 houses and leaving more than 9,000 residents homeless.
