Netizens slammed a parent who criticised a teacher online after refusing to advance RM5 to a student who forgot pocket money.
A seemingly small issue involving just RM5 has exploded into a heated online debate after a parent took to social media to criticise a teacher for refusing to advance money when the student did not have cash for school expenses.
The incident, shared widely on Threads, quickly went viral and divided opinions among netizens over whether the teacher was right to refuse or whether more empathy should have been shown.

The original post, written in frustration, read: “To the makcik who complained on Threads because the teacher wouldn’t front RM5 when she didn’t have cash, I just want to say this — good on the teacher for not entertaining parents like you.
“Every little thing also you want to blow up on social media.
“Here’s an example of how parents should act instead: when their child forgets their pocket money, they make the effort to send it to school themselves.
“Instead, you blamed the teacher for not having cash, then went on Threads making noise, saying the teacher has no empathy and all sorts of things.
“You were the careless one, but somehow the teacher gets blamed,” the post read.
The post quickly gained traction, with many users chiming in in strong support of the teacher, saying the criticism was unfair and unnecessary.
“It reminds me of when my dad left my lunch with the security guard — the guard called the teacher, they made an announcement over the school speaker system. Settles,” one user called ninichoc commented.
