A 19-year-old Rohingya woman is charged with murder after a foetus was discovered in a plastic bag in Johor.
ISKANDAR PUTERI: A 19-year-old Rohingya woman has been charged with murder over the discovery of a foetus in a plastic bag in an alley near Taman Nusa Idaman, Bukit Indah here on July 5.
According to Iskandar Puteri district police chief ACP M. Kumarasan, the woman was arrested on the day of the incident and was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code today.
A 34-year-old local man who was arrested at the scene on the day the foetus was found would serve as a prosecution witness, he said in a statement today.
Kumarasan said the woman was arrested at a hotel in Bukit Indah.
“Checks found that the man has two previous records involving criminal and drug-related offences, while the woman has no prior record. Urine screening tests conducted on both suspects were negative,” he said.
