Negeri Sembilan Umno chairman Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias will defend the Pertang state seat in a three-cornered contest.
PETALING JAYA: Negeri Sembilan Umno chairman Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias will defend the Pertang state seat in a three-cornered contest in the 16th Negeri Sembilan state election.
The incumbent will face Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate Mohd Umry Abdul Khois and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) candidate Mohd Faizal Fadli Mohd Idrus.
The three-way contest was confirmed by Jelebu parliamentary returning officer Abdul Rahim A. Aziz after the close of the nomination process at Dewan Besar Kuala Klawang today.
Jalaluddin, who is also Jelebu MP, retained the Pertang seat in the 2023 state election with a majority of 2,790 votes after securing 5,634 votes against Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate Amiruddin Hassan, who received 2,844 votes.
He previously held the seat from 2013 to 2018 before reclaiming it in the 2023 election.
According to the Election Commission (EC), the Pertang state constituency has 12,873 registered voters for this election.
