Malaysia’s political stability under Madani government marks progress milestone

Malaysia’s Madani government achieves political stability and economic progress in third year, with expanded welfare programmes and international recognition

KUALA LUMPUR: The Madani Government under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has achieved significant national development milestones as it enters its third year of administration.

Despite facing various challenges, the government has successfully steered Malaysia toward progress through dedicated efforts from the Cabinet, civil service, and public support.

Domestic priorities have focused on public welfare, cost of living concerns, anti-corruption measures, and economic restructuring to navigate global economic and geopolitical landscapes.

The Sumbangan Asas Rahmah programme now reaches 5.4 million recipients, including 700,000 eKasih and 4.7 million Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah beneficiaries.

Budget 2025 increased STR and SARA allocations to RM13 billion from RM10 billion previously, with annual SARA aid rising to RM2,100 from RM1,200 last year.

The BUDI MADANI RON95 Programme allows all Malaysian citizens aged 16 and above with active driving licenses to purchase up to 300 litres of subsidised fuel monthly.

Other initiatives include RM150 Bantuan Awal Persekolahan for students, the Public Service Remuneration System for civil servants, and minimum wage increases to RM1,700.

The government raised the Paddy Purchase Floor Price to RM1,500 for 2025 and increased the Paddy Price Subsidy Scheme Rate to RM500 in 2023.

Programme MADANI Rakyat events showcase government achievements and policy progress while providing direct ministry and agency services to the public.

Universiti Sains Malaysia professor Datuk Dr Sivamurugan Pandian said the success stems from established political stability, clear policies, and commitment from civil and private sectors.

“The political stability enjoyed today was not achieved overnight but was driven by concerted efforts to restore the country’s condition after political uncertainty,” he said.

He noted the Madani Government ended political turmoil, public and investor anxiety, and administrative inefficiency experienced during previous administrations.

Universiti Malaya’s Professor Datuk Dr Awang Azman Awang Pawi attributed increased aid and infrastructure allocations to savings from targeted fuel subsidies.

Internationally, Malaysia has advocated for Gaza’s oppressed people and used its ASEAN Chairmanship to voice Palestinian issues to US President Donald Trump.

ASEAN Chairmanship achievements included the Kuala Lumpur Peace Agreement between Cambodia and Thailand and Timor-Leste’s entry as the 11th member state.

Malaysia participated in the Global Sumud Flotilla humanitarian convoy with over 40 ships and 500 activists from 44 countries delivering aid to Gaza.

The successful repatriation of 23 Malaysian activists detained by Israel demonstrated effective cross-border diplomacy through Jordan, Qatar, and Turkiye.

Geostrategic expert Professor Dr Azmi Hassan said Malaysia’s clear, principled voice on international issues has elevated its regional standing.

“Malaysia is not lost in global issues. Our voice is clear, firm, and consistent,” he stated.

Prime Minister Anwar ranked 10th in The World’s 500 Most Influential Muslims 2026, rising from 15th position last year.

He also received the Global Islamic Finance Award 2025, recognising Malaysia’s leadership in Islamic finance.

Anwar was sworn in as Malaysia’s 10th Prime Minister on November 24, 2022, introducing the Malaysia MADANI framework on January 19, 2023.

The MADANI concept rests on six pillars: Sustainability, Well-being, Innovation, Respect, Trust and Compassion. – Bernama
