Linggi fly nuisance addressed by modern poultry farming shift

Negeri Sembilan shifts to modern poultry farming to tackle Linggi’s fly nuisance, says MB Aminuddin Harun.

PORT DICKSON: The long-standing fly nuisance plaguing residents in several areas around Linggi is now being addressed by the state government, said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.

He said efforts to tackle the problem are underway through the transition to modern closed-house poultry farming systems in the affected areas.

However, Aminuddin noted that several small-scale conventional chicken farms are still being operated by residents, as the cost of upgrading to modern farms requires significant investment.

“The Linggi area is among the largest producers of chickens and eggs in the country. These operators have been in the business for decades. The state government has held meetings with them to encourage a shift from conventional to more modern farming systems.

“Many farms have already made the transition to modern systems. Nevertheless, we are taking this matter seriously and will ensure that the fly problem in the Linggi area is reduced in the near future,” he told reporters after engaging with Linggi residents at Tanjung Agas today.

He was responding to complaints from residents around Linggi who have called on the state government to take immediate action to curb the nuisance.
