State PH chairman says the new manifesto is more comprehensive, broadening initiatives beyond the B40 to include M40 families.
PORT DICKSON: The manifesto unveiled by Pakatan Harapan (PH) yesterday for the upcoming 16th Negeri Sembilan state election is more comprehensive, with its initiatives broadened to also benefit the M40 group.
State PH chairman Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said the manifesto, themed ‘Negeri Sembilan Kekal Harapan’ (Negeri Sembilan Stays with Harapan) and outlining 10 key commitments, would enable a larger segment of the state’s population to enjoy greater well-being.
“This time, we are not only looking after the B40 group, but also the M40, so that these initiatives will have a more meaningful impact on a larger segment of the people of Negeri Sembilan. What matters is that the people know what we intend to deliver for them.
“Previously, our focus was limited to the B40 group. Now, all initiatives and access to education have been expanded to include children from M40 families as well,” he told reporters after a community engagement programme with the Indian community at Sekang Estate in Linggi here today.
In the upcoming polls, Aminuddin, who is also the Menteri Besar, is contesting the Linggi state seat against incumbent Datuk Mohd Faizal Ramli of Barisan Nasional (BN) and Zamri Md Said, 54, of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), in a three-cornered contest.
Aminuddin, who is also PKR vice-president and Negeri Sembilan PKR chairman, said PH has a strong track record of delivering on its promises to the people, and does not merely present manifestos to win votes.
He said the coalition’s experience in governing the state since 2018 demonstrates the state government’s commitment to delivering the various welfare and development initiatives it had pledged to the people.
“Fulfilling these responsibilities is far more challenging than merely making promises. However, we have proven before that we are capable of delivering on many of the commitments we made,” he said.
Aminuddin, who is also the Port Dickson Member of Parliament, once again appealed to all parties to conduct a mature election campaign and refrain from raising issues that could undermine social harmony in Negeri Sembilan.
The Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly was dissolved on June 5, and the Election Commission has set Aug 1 as polling day, with early voting scheduled for July 28.
