A man died in a hit-and-run accident while installing election campaign flags in Negeri Sembilan, with police searching for the lorry driver involved.
SEREMBAN: A man was killed in an accident while putting up flags for the 16th Negeri Sembilan state election campaign on the Jalan Kuala Sawah-Rantau, near Kampung Belangkan, yesterday afternoon.
Seremban district police chief ACP Mohd Yatim Osman said in the incident at about 6.40 pm, the victim, aged 34, was on the road shoulder heading towards Rantau to carry out flag installation work.
He said the initial investigation found that a lorry, with a registration number that has not been identified, was believed to have hit a signpost before crashing into the victim. who was along the roadside.
As a result of the collision, the victim fell and sustained severe face and head injuries before being pronounced dead at the scene.
The lorry driver is believed to have fled the scene after the accident, and efforts to track down the vehicle and the driver involved are currently underway,” he said in a statement today.
Meanwhile, Mohd Yatim said that members of the public who have information regarding the incident are asked to contact the investigating officer, Insp Nor Fadzilah Mohd Zainuddin at 019-4611794 or 06-6033222 or 06-6033222 (IPD Seremban Operations Room), or to go to any nearby police station to assist with the investigation.
He said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, and further investigations are ongoing.
