Sabah CM Hajiji Noor pledges to elevate Tamparuli to full district status if GRS retains power in the upcoming state election
TAMPARULI: The town of Tamparuli could be elevated to full district status if Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) retains power in the upcoming state election.
Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor made this pledge during a GRS mega campaign at the Tamu Baharu Tamparuli site.
“There is much that GRS will implement if we win,” said Hajiji, who also chairs the coalition.
“We will continue the initiatives previously introduced, in addition to considering Tamparuli as a full district.”
However, he stressed that this depends on GRS candidate Dr Bonaventure Boniface winning the Tamparuli seat.
“When Dr Bonaventure wins, he will bring forward the application for Tamparuli to be made a full district for us to implement,” Hajiji added.
He cited Sook and Paitan as examples of areas previously elevated to full district status under GRS leadership.
The chief minister highlighted various government initiatives benefiting Sabahans over the past five years.
These include the Sentuhan Kasih Rakyat 2025 programme providing RM300 assistance to 100,000 low-income individuals.
GRS also plans to help first-time homebuyers with deposits for properties priced below RM500,000.
The coalition is contesting 55 of the 73 state seats in the November 29 election.
Early voting will take place on November 25. – Bernama
