Ibrahim Darus appointed acting Deputy IGP effective today, succeeding Ayob Khan after nearly 35 years of service.
KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman Special Branch director Datuk Seri Ibrahim Darus has been appointed acting Deputy Inspector-General of Police (IGP) effective today, succeeding Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay, who will retire tomorrow after nearly 35 years of service with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).
The handover ceremony between Ayob Khan and Ibrahim was witnessed by IGP Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail at the Police Training Centre (Pulapol) here.
Ayob Khan, who was appointed Deputy IGP on June 23, 2023, had served in various key positions throughout his more than three decades with PDRM, including in the Special Branch and its Counter-Terrorism Division.
He also served as Johor Police Chief, Director of the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department and Director of the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department before assuming the post of Deputy IGP.
