Petronas denies sponsoring Bangladesh Football League

Petronas confirms it has no sponsorship agreement with Bangladesh Football League, refuting viral social media claims about the foreign partnership

KUALA LUMPUR: Petronas has denied viral social media claims alleging it is the title sponsor of the Bangladesh Football League.

The national oil and gas company issued a statement clarifying it has not entered into any sponsorship agreement for the league.

“We wish to confirm that Petronas has not entered into any sponsorship agreement for the Bangladesh Football League, nor have we authorised the use of our name or brand in connection with this league,” the company said.

Petronas emphasized it takes brand integrity seriously and remains focused on delivering value to stakeholders and communities.

Rumours about the partnership went viral on social media since last night following reports on several local sports portals.

The claims drew attention from various quarters questioning Petronas’ decision to allegedly sponsor a foreign competition instead of domestic leagues. – Bernama
