MNEF pushes for immediate meeting with Yayasan Sime Darby to resolve issues behind postponed track cycling and BMX series.

THE Malaysian National Cycling Federation (MNCF) is seeking an immediate face-to-face meeting with the management of Yayasan Sime Darby (YSD) to resolve the crisis that has led to the postponement of the YSD Track Cycling and BMX Series 2026.

MNCF president Datuk Amarjit Singh Gill said immediate discussions are needed to reach a mutual understanding so that the talent development series could resume for the future of national cycling.

He stressed that the issue that arose is not a complicate one, but requires mutual respect as equal strategic partners.

“I think this matter requires the top management of YSD and the MNCF executive council members to sit down together to discuss several issues. I do not want to comment in detail about the actual issue, but I believe that if all parties exercise good judgment, this matter can be resolved.

“In any organisation or collaboration involving two strategic partners, there must be mutual respect. That is very important in every work environment,” he said after the launch and route announcement of the Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) 2026 at Menara KBS here today.

Previously, YSD announced that the postponement of the race series was made following several technical issues involving MNCF.

Elaborating, Amarjit said MNCF is always open and ready to meet at any time to ensure that the programme is not further disrupted.

“If YSD said it involves technical issues, I respect that stance and let it be considered a technical issue. However, in my opinion, this matter is not something too complicated to be resolved. What is important is mutual respect between both parties.

“We must respect each other and recognise each other’s roles as equal strategic partners. MNCF greatly appreciates YSD’s contribution to the development of cycling in the country and we respect their commitment,” he added.
