E-invoice, SST implementation to be improved for small companies

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim pledges to refine e-invoice and SST implementation to better support small businesses, addressing concerns raised during election campaign.

SANDAKAN: The federal government will improve the implementation of the e-Invoice system and Sales and Service Tax to better support small businesses.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim acknowledged that while the e-Invoice initiative is beneficial, its execution has sometimes posed challenges for smaller companies.

“I am aware of the issues raised and I am prepared to make the necessary adjustments, but I cannot announce them now as it is campaign season,” he said at a reception and dinner with the Chinese community at Hakka Hall.

He assured that the government has taken note of concerns and will refine both the e-Invoice system and SST implementation.

Speaking during the Sabah state election campaign, Anwar said Pakatan Harapan will not be forming the state government but is prepared to extend support to ensure effective cooperation between state and federal administrations.

He stressed that any government formed must represent all races, warning that Malaysia cannot progress if divided by state or district-based sentiments.

“Playing up state sentiments, playing up district sentiments – we will not succeed,” he said.

Anwar expressed hope that PH candidates Vivian Wong Shir Yee in Elopura, Tang Szu Ching in Tanjong Papat, and Datuk George Hiew Vun Zin in Karamunting would secure a simple majority.

The Prime Minister earlier visited the Karamunting constituency, attending a session with the PH candidate at the Karamunting District Polling Centre.

He was welcomed by a kompang performance from the Al-Falah Group of Kampung Karamunting before spending 30 minutes engaging with local community members.

Anwar was scheduled to attend the Ceramah Perdana PMX Sayang Sabah for the Merotai state seat in Tawau later that evening.

The 17th Sabah State Election, covering 73 state seats, is set for Saturday.
