JAINJ’s gentle approach helps former GISBH followers return to true Islamic teachings

Johor Islamic Department’s patient guidance brings 277 former GISBH members back to true Islamic teachings through faith-strengthening courses

KOTA TINGGI: The Johor Islamic Religious Department’s gentle and wise approach in delivering lectures has successfully guided former GISBH Holdings followers back to authentic Islamic teachings.

For 68-year-old Mohd Normateen Mohd Sharif, the sessions provided rich religious knowledge delivered with courtesy and patience without pressure.

“JAINJ provides a lot of religious knowledge during their lectures,” he said after completing the Faith Strengthening Course and Istitabah Programme for Former Johor GISBH Members 2025.

“There is no shouting or harshness. As Muslims, we must live by the knowledge shared by those who are wise.”

Mohd Normateen acknowledged making many mistakes and expressed gratitude for government guidance toward the right path.

Having followed GISBH for nearly 30 years, he urged current members to participate in the programme for its substantial benefits.

Mohd Normateen was among 277 former GISBH members who completed 36 class sessions organised by JAINJ since last year.

State Islamic Religious Affairs Committee chairman Mohd Fared Mohd Khalid said the government’s approach aims to purify faith and eradicate deviant teachings in Johor.

He noted the initiative aligns with His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim’s directive for stronger action against deviant teachings.

All former GISBH members involved cooperated fully and attended every class, acknowledging their past belief errors.

The state government provides various support including living and schooling assistance through MAINJ and JKM.

Approximately 50 more former GISBH members and 80 individuals associated with “kuda kepang” performances will undergo the same course soon.

Johor has issued a fatwa declaring GISBH teachings and practices deviant, following the National Council for Islamic Religious Affairs Malaysia’s decision. – Bernama
