KL police will review SOPs after a raid on a health club linked to immoral activities, aiming to ensure evidence is admissible and investigations proceed effectively.
KUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Lumpur police will review standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to a recent raid on a health club suspected of being used for immoral activities.
Police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the review aims to ensure every enforcement action yields a positive community impact.
He said the raid revealed several shortcomings that must be addressed to prevent the loss of crucial evidence.
“We do not want a situation where raids and arrests are carried out, but in the end the evidence is inadmissible, or the investigation cannot proceed,” Fadil told reporters.
He added that every offence has specific elements and requirements that must be met.
“It is not easy to accuse someone, including in cases involving sodomy or other negative social activities,” he said.
Fadil said police are now working with local authorities and the religious department to ensure the premises involved do not resume operations.
On November 28, 208 individuals were arrested during a police raid on a health club in Chow Kit.
Seventeen of those arrested were civil servants.
Police seized condoms and several other items suspected to be used for immoral purposes during the operation.
The two-storey premises had reportedly been operating for between eight and 10 months.
