Melaka media practitioners receive RM500 incentive from state government

Melaka announces a one-off RM500 incentive for media practitioners, recognising their role as strategic partners in state development

MELAKA: The Melaka state government has announced a special one-off RM500 incentive for media practitioners in the state.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh made the announcement during the tabling of the Melaka State Budget 2026 at the State Legislative Assembly sitting in Seri Negeri.

The incentive involves a total financial implication of RM75,000.

Melaka Media Practitioners Club (Pendika) chairman Amir Mamat said the gesture reflects the state government’s recognition of the media’s role.

He stated it shows the government values the media not only as news reporters but as strategic partners in development.

“Pendika is very pleased with the special RM500 contribution to all media practitioners in Melaka,” he said in a statement.

Amir added that this incentive gives media practitioners renewed spirit to perform their duties with greater integrity and professionalism.

He expressed hope that such initiatives will continue to strengthen ties between the state government and the media.

The incentive acknowledges the efforts of journalists, photographers and videographers who deliver accurate news from the ground.

It is the first time such an incentive has been given to media practitioners by the Melaka state government. – Bernama
