A Malaysian lecturer has recently gone viral after sharing his ongoing free food programme dedicated to helping students at his university who struggle to afford meals.

In the photo attached to his Thread’s post, a cupboard labelled “Gerobok Rezeki @FEM” can be seen neatly stacked with plastic containers filled with food—available for any student who needs it.

In a Threads post, Mohammad Noorizzuddin Nooh explained that the initiative began after a heartbreaking encounter with several students who were skipping meals due to financial constraints.

“Three years ago, I saw during break time that some students were hanging around at the café without eating.

“I asked why? The answer was: no money.”

He said that moment prompted the faculty to step in and start a simple yet impactful free food programme. There are no forms, no registrations and no questions asked.

“No need to scan. No need to fill in your name. If you’re hungry, just take.”

Noorizzuddin also thanked generous donors who have supported the effort, enabling the project to run consistently for three years without fail.

“I would like to express my deepest thanks for all the prayers and wishes. I understand that doing this is not easy, and sustaining it is even harder. But as long as I am alive, insyaAllah this project will continue. I hope that when I retire one day, this programme will be taken over by someone else.

“Three years ago, I was helped by my mentee students. They helped manage this project and the Al-Kauthar Infaq Computer Room project. They just graduated last week. May Allah bless them.”

The lecturer’s post has touched many Malaysians, with many praising his commitment to ensuring no student has to study on an empty stomach.
