Malaysia promotes VMY2026 and cultural diversity at UN bazaar

Malaysia showcased its cultural heritage and cuisine at a UN event in Geneva, using the platform to promote the Visit Malaysia Year 2026 campaign.

GENEVA: Malaysia’s cultural heritage and tourism were in the spotlight at a United Nations event this week.

The Permanent Mission of Malaysia to the UN in Geneva participated in the UN Women’s Guild International Bazaar on Tuesday.

The annual event is a vibrant celebration of global cultures that also raises funds for international charitable causes.

Permanent Representative Datuk Nadzirah Osman said Malaysia’s participation focused on promoting the Visit Malaysia Year 2026 campaign.

“VMY2026 highlights the concept of unity in diversity, reflecting Malaysia’s various ethnic and cultural communities living in harmony,” she said in a statement.

She added that this diversity forms the foundation of the nation’s tourism brand, ‘Malaysia, Truly Asia’.

The mission’s booth featured signature dishes like nasi lemak, teh tarik, satay and curry puffs.

It said the booth received an enthusiastic response from visitors, who expressed deep interest in Malaysia’s cultural diversity and gastronomic traditions.

The Permanent Mission stated it will continue efforts to promote the country’s culture, tourism and national branding internationally.
