Sabah’s 2026 budget includes special financial aid equal to one month’s pay for state civil servants, with payments before Raya and Kaamatan.
KOTA KINABALU: A total of 18,853 Sabah state civil servants will receive Special Financial Aid equivalent to one month’s salary through the Sabah Budget 2026.
Deputy Chief Minister II Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun announced the aid, with a minimum payment of RM2,000, involving financial implications of RM52.6 million.
The payment will be made in two phases in February and May next year, ahead of Hari Raya Aidilfitri and the Kaamatan celebration.
“This assistance covers all categories of Sabah civil service members and is the government’s recognition of their commitment,” said Masidi, who is also the state Finance Minister.
He added that Sabah government pensioners will also receive a special payment of RM1,000 next year.
The state government has proposed an emolument allocation of RM936.73 million for civil servant salaries in 2026.
This represents an increase of RM32.82 million, or 3.63%, from the original 2025 allocation to accommodate annual increments and Phase 2 salary adjustments.
An allocation of RM16.85 million is dedicated to human resource development and training across all state agencies.
A further RM7.6 million is provided specifically to encourage a culture of lifelong learning among civil servants.
“The Civil Service is the lifeblood of the Sabah government and must always function efficiently,” Masidi added.
