Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek says constructive, fact-based media criticism is part of a healthy democratic process and essential for improvement.

BANGI: Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek has affirmed the media’s crucial role in linking government policies to realities on the ground.

She stated that fact-based and constructive media criticism is not a threat but part of a healthy democratic decision-making process.

“Honestly, fact-based criticism is the voice of the people,” she said during her ministry’s media networking night.

Fadhlina added that any leader must face such criticism maturely and have the courage to provide answers.

She emphasised that education reforms require perseverance, honesty and courage to face challenges.

These reforms are anchored on the principle of justice for equitable access to education, she noted.

The minister said the ministry has focused on rebuilding trust among students, parents and the community over the past three years.

Her visits to rural schools provided a clear picture of geographical challenges and facility needs, she shared.

Fadhlina stressed that implementing policies requires close cooperation between the ministry, schools, parents, communities and the media.

She expressed gratitude for the continued trust in her to carry on her Cabinet responsibilities.

The minister reaffirmed her commitment to strengthening the national education reform agenda.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim retained Fadhlina and her deputy in the Cabinet today to ensure continuity.
