Ukraine’s energy ministry said emergency power outages were introduced in several regions after the latest attack on energy infrastructure.
The country’s power operator, Ukrenergo, reported fires in several areas as temperatures dipped towards freezing.
One person was killed in the western Khmelnytsky region and another in Kyiv, according to local authorities.
Several people, including children, were wounded in a number of regions.
Neighbouring Poland scrambled fighter jets to protect its airspace during the assault.
Russia has intensified strikes on Ukraine’s southern port city of Odesa in recent days.
Ukrainian authorities say the attacks aim to destroy maritime logistics completely.
Fresh strikes sparked fires in the Black Sea city but did not cause injuries, emergency services said.
Russian attacks on Black Sea regions have hit bridges, ports and cut electricity and heating to thousands.
The latest barrage followed weekend negotiations the United States held with Russian and Ukrainian delegations in Miami.
State media reported Russian deputy foreign minister Sergei Ryabkov as saying “slow progress is being observed”.
Both sides held separate talks with US President Donald Trump’s envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
Witkoff had hailed “constructive” discussions but there were no signs of a breakthrough.
