A two-year-old girl died and seven others were injured in a head-on collision between two Perodua Axia cars on Jalan Felda Belara, Kuala Terengganu
KUALA TERENGGANU: A two-year-old girl was killed and seven others were injured in a head-on collision between two vehicles on Jalan Felda Belara.
Kuala Terengganu police chief ACP Azli Mohd Noor identified the deceased as Putri Fredella Al Frida Diandra Mohd Firdaus.
He said police received a report about the accident, which involved two Perodua Axia cars, at around 10 am.
Initial investigations indicate a car carrying a family of five from Setiu to Kuala Terengganu lost control and entered the opposite lane.
It then collided with another vehicle carrying a family of three travelling from Kemaman to Kota Bharu.
The crash injured seven victims aged between five months and 50 years.
The two-year-old girl, who was seated in the rear passenger seat, died at the scene.
Her body was sent to the Forensic Unit of Hospital Sultanah Nur Zahirah for further action.
The seven injured victims are also receiving treatment at the same hospital.
In a separate incident, a man was killed and his passenger injured after their car crashed into a tree.
The accident occurred along Jalan Gong Badak, Kuala Nerus, at about 6 am.
Azli identified the driver as 25-year-old Ahmad Zabani from Kampung Gelugor Kayu Tinggi.
He died at the scene, while his 38-year-old passenger, Azizi Kamarudin, was sent to Hospital Sultan Zainal Abidin for treatment.
Preliminary investigations found the company-owned Proton Persona, travelling from Kemaman towards Gong Badak, lost control.
The vehicle skidded off the road before crashing into a tree on the left side.
“The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” Azli said.
