Petronas Twin Towers lights suddenly changed patterns at 1am. Netizens speculate New Year rehearsal
THE Petronas Twin Towers (KLCC) caught public attention last night after its iconic lights unexpectedly started changing patterns in the early hours of the morning.
A video shared on Threads by user @ainulnasuha showed the KLCC lights switching patterns spontaneously, prompting excited onlookers to capture the unusual moment.
“Weh, first time seeing KLCC dancing. Were they testing the lights just now? Only managed to watch for a bit, then it went back to normal,” she wrote in the caption.
The post quickly gained traction, with many Malaysians expressing their surprise and sharing that they’d witnessed the same phenomenon.
“Ya weh. Also shocked that at this time (1.55am) KLCC lights haven’t been switched off,” commented Lissa Ali.
User Muizzqeen added: “Wah we’re neighbours then. Even now at 1.28am the lights are still ‘dancing’.”
Several netizens speculated the unusual display might be preparations for upcoming New Year’s Eve celebrations.
“Probably rehearsal for New Year’s night. Hope got fireworks this time lah. Already two years kena tipu with no fireworks,” commented Hafizie, referencing disappointment from previous years’ celebrations.
As of now, there’s been no official statement from Petronas or KLCC management regarding the spontaneous light display. Malaysians are now eagerly awaiting confirmation of whether a special New Year’s show is indeed in the works.
