Company directors charged with conspiracy to bribe assistant director

KUALA LUMPUR: Three company directors were charged in the Sessions Court here today with conspiring to bribe a former Sarawak Public Works quantity survey assistant director seven years ago.
Roswahida Abdul Wahid, 42, is facing five charges involving five cheques amounting to RM6,468 while Sharifah Salwa Syed Ali, 36, and Hisham Mohamad Hashim, 51, are facing similar charges involving a cheque of RM1,078.
They are accused of conspiring to bribe Ismail, 60, in their capacity as directors of Inai Kiara Sdn Bhd, through paying the instalments on a car registered under his wife's name.
Roswahida who is no longer a director of the company, and Sharifah Salwa and Hisham allegedly committed the offences at Ambank (M) Berhad, Jalan Jejaka 2, Taman Maluri here between April 24, 2007 and Jan 18, 2008.
Judge Rosbiahanin Arifin set bail at RM5,000 with one surety each, and fixed April 25 for remention.
Meanwhile, the court allowed deputy public prosecutor Kevin Morais' application to consolidate the trial of the trio, represented by counsel R.Thayalan, with that of Ismail's.
Ismail claimed trial last Oct 7, to seven counts of receiving bribes from a construction company. – Bernama
