Sarawak CM lauded for stern warning on state illegal logging
PETALING JAYA: Malay Businessmen and Industrialists Association of Malaysia (Perdasama) lauded the stern warning by Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem on those involved with corruption in logging activities.
Its president, Datuk Moehamad Izat Emir, said Adenan's warning must be seen as a guideline for the federal and state governments in their effort to combat corruption.
"Corruption is nothing new and could devastate the foundation of the country in the long term," he said in a statement.
"The warning by Adenan is a great approach which could serve as an eye opener to all, especially groups with high influence," he added.
On Monday, Adenan gave a stern warning to the "big six" logging companies in the state during a corporate integrity pledge signing ceremony in Kuching.
Adenan slammed those who were involved with corruption in the industry and illegal logging, calling the situation as very bad and cannot be tolerated.
