IGB Corp's Robert Tan not a victim of heli crash: Donald Lim

KUALA LUMPUR: IGB Corp Bhd's founder, Datuk Seri Robert Tan Chung Meng was not among the six victims killed in the helicopter crash in Semenyih, yesterday.
This was confirmed by former MCA vice-president, Datuk Donald Lim Siang Chai, who is also Tan's friend.
"I strongly confirm that is not him (Robert Tan), I spoke to in telephone conversation yesterday. Currently he is in Australia," he said when contacted by Bernama today.
Tan was earlier reported involved in the helicopter crash, due to confusion stemming from his shared name (Robert Tan) with a Kedah businessman, Datuk Robert Tan Huat Seang.
Huat Seang, who was among the six people killed in the incident, was the chief executive officer of SP Baiduri Sdn Bhd.

Meanwhile, IGB REIT Management in a statement said Tan Chung Meng was not on that helicopter and is alive and well.
"With regard to the unfortunate helicopter incident and tragic loss of life, it has been mistakenly reported that Datuk Robert Tan of IGB was a passenger on that flight.
"There will be a formal statement made very soon from IGB Corp Bhd," according to the statement.
Besides the Kedah businessman, the others killed in the crash were Rompin Members of Parliament and former Malaysian Envoy to United States, Tan Sri Dr Jamaluddin Jarjis; Jamaluddin's bodyguard, Razakan Seran; the private secretary at the Prime Minister's Office, Datuk Seri Azlin Alias; pilot Captain Clifford William Fournier and the pilot's Operations Assistant Aidana Baizieva.
The helicopter crashed in Semenyih near here at 4.55pm yesterday. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak has since ordered an immediate investigation into the incident.
The bodies of all victims were brought out of the crash site at about 11.30pm last night and were sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital for post-mortem and identification. – Bernama
