Kuala Lumpur RiverCity

EKOVEST Berhad, the very same company that spearheaded the development of the Duta – Ulu Kelang (DUKE) highway, will now lead an urban rejuvenation project to transform Kuala Lumpur’s northern river corridor into a world class river city.
Dubbed “Kuala Lumpur River City”, the new project spans across a 3km stretch along the Gombak River and is located 5km off the city’s golden triangle. The new project will be positioned within precinct 1 and 2 of the River of Life (RoL) plan, which is a seven-year project under the Economic Transformation Programme for Greater KL to resuscitate the Klang and Gombak rivers.
Part of EkoVest Berhad’s vision to “re-modernise” the northern sphere of Kuala Lumpur; the firm will also release a mixed developmental building called EkoTitiwangsa, costing a combined GDV of RM10 billion. The soon-to-be-launched property will rest along the KL River City area from Bandar Baru Sentul and Sentul Timur.
Ekovest Berhad managing director Datuk Lim Keng Cheng also mentioned the upcoming progress for phases of DUKE 2 and 3, addressing the traffic dilemma in and around Kuala Lumpur city centre. Lim said the Duke 2 and 3 will have its own park-and-ride facility integrated with public transportation systems such as MRT, LRT and a river taxi … soon.
The preliminary design landscape will not only become the next tourist destination but will also host commercial and corporate properties to encourage new business opportunities aimed at reinforcing Malaysia into the high income nation status bracket.
One of the highlights of KL River City is the water system it will be appended with, where flood water will be channelled into a flood tunnel below the city, bypassing the river corridor itself. Relying on gravity, the system will employ a non-mechanical operational plan called the “double decker” concept – allowing water with a depth of one-metre to remain constant, all year long.
The upper deck of the project will be safe for recreational use and will offer a breathtaking river walk experience and scenery, comparable to San Antonio in US and Yarra River in Australia.
Ekovest and Malaysian Resources Corp Bhd are the project delivery partners for this development.
