Wake to be held for former MBSKL principal (Updated)

PETALING JAYA: The former principal of Methodist Boys School in Kuala Lumpur (MBSKL), 86-year-old Yong Chee Seng, died about two weeks after he sustained multiple injuries after his car plunged into a 12m-deep construction manhole in Jalan Universiti here.
Yong served as the principal of the school from 1979 to 1985 and many of his former students have taken to social media to remember this very special man.
“He taught me Economics in sixth form and made a boring subject come alive. He is stern, but actually a very kind man, a real gentleman. Still remember how he pulls up his trousers before he begins his lessons,” said Albert YM Lee on the MBSKL Alumni Facebook page.
Many other students, who commented on Yong, had nothing but admiration for him and concurred with Albert.
“Yong Sook was my headmaster throughout secondary school. I admire his courage and how he took time to correct our wrongs. He also came to encourage old MBSKL boys to come forward to support the school. He will be dearly missed,” said another former student, Goon Hoong.
Another ex-student, Yim Chik Keong, said that he fondly remembered Yong as a stern but a kind hearted man who was a great teacher.
Wake services for Yong will be held tomorrow and Tuesday while the funeral service will be held on May 18. His remains will be interred at the Subang Lutheran Garden cemetery thereafter.
