Najib visits Manong Ramadan bazar
KUALA KANGSAR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak today joined the people to visit the Ramadan Bazaar at Manong, here.
Despite his hectic schedule, he arrived at 5.00pm and spent about 30 minutes walking about the bazaar accompanied by Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir.
Najib also mingled with traders and visitors to the bazaar and bought delicacies such as satay and side dishes such as pineapple chutney, curry eggplant, grilled catfish, watermelon and lai chi kang water.
Also accompanying him were Kuala Kangsar parliamentary by-election Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Datin Mastura Mohd Yazid's children – Wan Emir Astar, 26, Wan Imar Izzat, 25, Wan Iskandar, 23, and Wan Mohammad Amar, 19.
The people also took the opportunity to shake hands and take pictures with the country's number one leader.
A satay seller, Yusof Ismail, 49, said he was thrilled when the leader came up to his shop and bought satay.
"I have been doing business here for 15 years. I felt nice and proud when Datuk Seri came here. He bought 45 sticks of satay for RM20.
Drinks seller, Muhammad Ikwan Mohd Razak, 22, said he felt very excited about his first encounter with the Prime Minister.
"I've been selling drinks here for six years. Feel good. Datuk Seri bought lai chi kang water, lemon tea and milo," he said.
Najib then went to Masjid Nurul Huda, Manong, to attend the Semarak Ramadan programme and for the breaking of the fast together with the community before performing the Maghrib prayers.
After that, the Prime Minister would perform the Isyak and Tarawih prayers, together with the community at Masjid Kampung Guar, here. — Bernama
