KAJANG: A 15-year-old girl who was waiting for her school van near her house early today was abducted by a motorcyclist and a pillion rider opposite her house in Bandar Tun Hussein Onn.
However, as the news of her abduction spread like wild fire in the social media and news portals, Nur Darleen Dazeera Azhar's abductors are believed to have panicked and abandoned their plan.
The assailants are believed to have left the girl not far from her house about seven hours later.
A passer-by who recognised the girl picked her up and sent her home where she was reunited with her family.
Police said the victim was shaken up over the incident but investigators learnt that her abductors had held her at a house at an undisclosed location.
Kajang police chief ACP Othman Nayan said the victim who was clad in her school uniform was walking alone when she was found about 3km from where she was abducted at 2.15pm.
He said the girl was later taken to the Kajang district police station to have a statement recorded.
Othman said earlier at 7.10am, a school van driver had called up the victim's mother alerting her that Nur Darleen's schoolmate had spotted the girl leaving with two men on a motorcycle.
The driver told the woman that the victim was seated in-between the motorcyclist and pillion rider.
Othman said the driver went to Nur Darleen's school, SMK Bandar Tun Hussein Onn, to ascertain her whereabouts but found that the girl had not showed up.
He said Nur Darleen's mother called her husband who then notified the police.
Othman said soon after police issued an alert to its personnel on duty and an operation to look for the girl was launched.
He said investigators also went to the victim's school and interviewed her close friends to determine if the abductors were known to her.
It is believed that investigators have identified the suspects who were involved in the case and are tracking them down.
It is also being probed if the incident was planned and if the victim was aware of it prior to being snatched.
Police also sent the teenager for a medical check up today.
On Wednesday, in a similar case in Seri Kembangan, a 17-year-old Form Five student was nearly abducted when a man grabbed the victim and attempted to bundle her into his car in Taman Universiti Indah.
The victim had just got off a bus and was walking home alone after school when a car pulled over next to her.
The driver grabbed the victim, covered her mouth and tried to push her into his car.
However, the feisty girl put up a struggle and managed to break free from the man.
When the girl screamed for help, the abducter pushed her to the ground and sped off in his car.
The fall caused the girl's spectacles to break and injure her cheeks. She then ran to her house which was about 100 metres away and related her ordeal to her mother who called the police.
Serdang police chief ACP Megat Mohd Aminuddin Megat Alias said investigations are ongoing and no arrests have been made.
Sources said based preliminary investigations, police believe both cases are not linked.
