SERDANG: In a 20-minute crime spree, 10 robbers on motorcycles hit two petrol stations and got away with thousands of ringgit in cash and goods here.
In the first incident , the robbers, believed to be locals on six motorcycles, barged into a petrol station near Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur, at about 6pm on Wednesday.
Serdang district police chief ACP Megat Mohd Aminuddin Megat Alias said three of the robbers got off their motorcycles and threatened the cashier with their parang before escaping with almost RM7,000 in goods and cash.
"They also took away a donation box on the counter with about RM200," he said in a statement today.
He added about 10 minutes later, the same gang arrived at the second petrol station in Bandar Kinrara, Puchong and this time they attacked one of the workers there and vandalised the place before fleeing the scene.
"The robbers also forced a female customer, who was withdrawing cash at the ATM, to give up RM1,000 before they fled," he added.
Megat Mohd Aminuddin said police have launched a manhunt for the robbers.
The case is being investigated under Section 395 and 397 of the Penal Code for gang robbery and robbery when armed or with attempt to cause grievous hurt.
