AUTHOR Rhonda Byrne became a sensation with her “new thought” books The Secret and later The Power.
Essentially, they are all self-help books encouraging people to believe that they can succeed.
Hero traces the journey that 12 people took to overcome the odds and become successful.

One of them is Liz Murray, who was born to drug-addict parents and lived in poverty in New York but went on to study in Harvard and became a successful motivational speaker.
Another is Anastasia Shore from Romania who arrived in Los Angeles with no money and unable to speak English but used her skills at shaping eyebrows to become a businesswoman.
Then, there are G.M. Rao, who grew up in a poor rural village with no real prospects but created an empire that includes power plants; and Micheal Acton Smith, who could not land a job after graduating from university but went on to create Moshi Monsters and become a global phenomenon.
Each one of the people featured in this book has a compelling story to tell and all are of them are inspiring.
What makes the book interesting is that you can identify with them.
Each has the odds stacked against him or her in different ways but in the end, they all managed to overcome them and become heroes in their own right.
Overall, the book is very compelling and insightful. Byrne’s method of dividing the book into various topics also makes this an easy read.
