Form Four female student fractures shoulder after assault by classmate

SUNGEI BULOH: A Form Four female student suffered a fractured shoulder and a bruised nose after being assaulted by a fellow classmate in a bullying case at a co-ed government school here on Thursday.
Police arrested a 16-year-old female student who allegedly attacked the victim about seven hours after the assault.
The assault occured after recess time at about 10.45am when all students of the SMK Bandar Baru Sungai Buloh school had returned to their classroom.
It is learnt that the assailant who is the victim's classmate had gone up to her and allegedly picked a fight.
The assailant is said to have scolded the victim before punching her on the face and several more times on her back.
When the victim fell, another female classmate intervened and pulled away the assailant.
The victim quickly left the classroom before she was accompanied by her family and lodged a report at the Sungai Pelong police station.
She then sought medical treatment at the Sungai Buloh Hospital for a broken scapula, bruised nose and swollen cheeks.
Her classmate was then arrested by police.
Initial investigations by police revealed that the suspect went berserk as she was angry at the victim for refusing to be her friend.
Sungai Buloh police chief Supt Somu Subramaniam said the suspect was remanded for a day for investigations and was freed on bail.
He said the case is being probed for causing grevious hurt under Section 325 of the Penal Code and upon completion of investigations, police will submit its findings to the deputy public prosecuter's office for further action.
A family member of the victim had also uploaded a posting on the victim's plight in Facebook revealing details of the case and photos of the injured girl. It was also revealed that the suspect had made threats on the victim through text messages a day earlier.
