Four days remand for security officer and manager over bribery probe

JOHOR BARU: A security officer and a health, safety and environment division manager for an oil and gas project were remanded for four days till March 9 for a bribery probe.
Magistrate Azuree Sahira Sauffee Afandi granted the application by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission on Tuesday.
The suspects aged 44 and 49 are alleged to have received a bribe from the owner of a restaurant who wanted to open a canteen.
The bribe was an inducement for approval of a gas pipeline for the canteen in the project area of Refinery and Petrochemical Integrated Development (Rapid) in Pengerang.
Meanwhile, three men involved in a brawl at a seafood restaurant in Stulang Laut here have been remanded until March 8 by the same magistrate's court.
The three locals are being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal code for rioting.
Police detained 17 suspects following the ruckus at the restaurant on March 4 after a four-minutes and 25 seconds video of the incident went viral on Facebook and Whatsapp.
