ICCL aims to take the lead in logistics industry

BUKIT MERTAJAM: Leading logistics company Integrated Cold Chain Logistics Sdn Bhd (ICCL) aims to take the lead in the growth of the logistics industry with the launch of its one-stop logistics centre here.
Group Managing Director Kevin Lim said the new logistics centre will bring ICCL's total capacity in Penang to approximately 24,000 pallet positions, compared to just 8000 currently.
"This new logistics center is not a conventional warehouse, it will be an Automated Storage and Retrieval System (AS/RS) facility which requires no personnel for its operations and is the first of its kind in Malaysia that is housed within a temperature controlled environment," he said.
He said the company also aims to become a regional distribution centre that offers comprehensive total logistics cold chain solutions with value added services such as supply chain solutions, cross border services, repackaging, and cross-docking.
Present during the official launch at the company's headquarters in the Bukit Minyak Industrial Park was Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng and Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.
In his speech, Chow said ICCL's investments in the high technology logistics centre will directly increase the growing logistics capacity in the state.
"ICCL's strategy to attract the transfer of technology from expertise abroad will also help to grow the capability of local logisticians."
The RM51 million new logistics centre is expected to be fully operational in 12 months.
