PETALING JAYA: Japan Airlines flight JL724, which was supposed to land at Tokyo's Narita International Airport (NAI) this morning, was forced to turn back to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) two hours into the flight.
According to aviation tracking website, flightradar24.com, the flight which was supposed to have taken off at 10.50pm had its flight arrival status diverted at about 3am.
It was learnt that passengers onboard the flight had experienced a two-hour delay prior to departure and only took off at 1.30am.
A passenger on board the flight said the pilot announced that the aircraft had to turn back due to "engine problems".
The passenger, who requested for anonymity, added that the return flight was bumpy and expressed relief once the flight had landed back at KLIA around 3.45am.
All passengers were apparently made to wait at the Cathay Pacific lounge before their flight was rescheduled at 9.50am, today via Malaysia Airlines.
