Maggie Gyllenhaal to star in 'The Kindergarten Teacher'

US actress Maggie Gyllenhaal has signed on to star in an independent drama titled The Kindergarten Teacher, which is to be based on writer/director Nadav Lapid's acclaimed Israeli film of the same name.
Sara Colangelo is set to direct the feature from her own adapted screenplay, Maven Pictures producing the film, and Gyllenhaal also on board to produce - alongside fellow Maven Pictures co-founders Trudie Styler, Celine Rattray, and Talia Kleinhendler.
Gyllenhaal will play Lisa Spinelli, a kindergarten teacher who grows more and more numb each day she remains stuck in her mundane Staten Island life. When she discovers what may be a prodigious five-year old poet in her class, she becomes obsessed with the child and his talent - risking her career, family, and freedom (via Variety).
