Man remanded for allegedly forcing Myanmar woman to perform unnatural sex on him

    GEORGE TOWN: A maintenance worker who allegedly forced a 25-year-old Myanmar woman to perform unnatural sex on him at the 17th floor of an empty apartment unit on Monday has been remanded until Sept 3 to facilitate investigation, said Northeast district police chief ACP Anuar Omar.
    He said the the remand order was issued by the George Town Magistrate's Court and the case was being investigated under Section 377B of the Penal Code for committing unnatural sex.
    He said the 22-year-old suspect's heinous act was exposed after a passer-by alerted the cops after seeing the suspect behaving in a suspicious manner with the victim at the 16th floor of the building.
    Anuar said, investigations revealed that the suspect had approached the victim at 10.30pm on Aug 28 as the victim was on her way to her work place.
    The suspect then introduced himself as a police officer to the victim and instructed the victim to follow him to an empty unit
    "The suspect then forced the victim to perform unnatural sex with him," he said adding that the suspect also was forced to give all her jewellery items to the suspect," he said.
    He said the victim was sent to hospital for physical examination and the statement of the victim has been recorded.
    In an unrelated case, Anuar said police were on midst of detaining a 29-year-old immigration officer and three Nepalese who were warded in Penang Hospital after they involved in brawl at a shophouse in Jalan Rumbia, Bukit Jambul.
    Anuar said a fight ensued between them and all of them sustained injuries during the 9.30am incident today.
    He said the officer who is on leave was attacked after checking the foreigners identification documents.
    "We classified it for rioting under Penal Code," he said, adding investigators were also searching for more suspects involved.
