Pertama Digital’s eJamin payment cap raised to RM500,000

PETALING JAYA: Pertama Digital Bhd’s digital court bail payment solution eJamin has raised its digital payment limit to RM500,000 from a previous cap of RM30,000.

The solution was first introduced on Jan 10, 2020 and has reduced the bail process from half a day to minutes by enabling payments through smart phones and web browsers.

Previously, online bank transfers for bail payments were capped at RM30,000 for each transaction in accordance with the standard B2C Financial Process Exchange (FPX) limit of Payments Network Malaysia Sdn Bhd (PayNet).

This cap has now been raised to RM500,000.

Pertama Digital executive director Sabri Ab Rahman expressed gratitude for the Malaysian judiciary’s contribution towards the initiative as well as the assistance of PayNet and the participating banks.

Dapat Vista (M) Sdn Bhd CEO Amanda Sabri remarked that the increase in the FPX limit will enable more people to take advantage of the convenient digital bail process through the solution. Dapat Vista is an associate company that operates eJamin.

She highlighted that previously, people had to rush between the court and banks to complete the bail process manually. If it was late, the accused would have to spend time in the lock up.

“Facilitating quick bail pending conclusion of court cases helps avoid queues at banks and courts and cramming in lock-ups, hence complying with physical distancing during the Covid-19 pandemic,” said Amanda.

To date, eJamin has been implemented in more than 140 court locations around Malaysia and the number is still growing in line with the courts’ encouragement towards the digital shift.

In addition, Pertama Digital aims to expand the bail solution for police remands and the syariah criminal courts.

Previously, it had reported a total bail collection of RM45.46 million from January to December last year, with a monthly growth rate of 18.21%.
