KUALA LUMPUR: Electrical engineering service provider HE Group Bhd, through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Hexatech Engineering Sdn Bhd, accepted a subcontractor contract amounting to approximately RM102 million for a data centre in Johor.
The subcontract was awarded by a Malaysia-incorporated engineering, procurement and construction management company, specialising in the construction, civil engineering and offshore oil and gas sectors.
The scope of works covers the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of main electrical works for the data centre, with completion targeted by Sept 19, 2027.
This contract is expected to positively impact the group’s earnings over the course of the project.
With the latest contract, HE Group’s order book stands at approximately RM275 million as of June 22, 2026, providing the group with a healthy pipeline of projects and improved earnings visibility.
HE Group managing director Haw Chee Seng (pic) said securing this contract adds to the group’s growing footprint in the data centre segment, which has become an increasingly important part of its order book.
“With a solid project base to execute on, we continue to direct our business development efforts towards data centres, semiconductors and other high-growth industries where demand for electrical infrastructure remains active,” he said.
Haw said Malaysia’s position as a preferred destination for digital infrastructure investment continues to strengthen, drawing significant capital commitments from both domestic and international players.
He said the rapid growth of cloud services and AI-powered workloads is driving sustained demand for large-scale, reliable data centre capacity, creating a steady pipeline of opportunities that HE Group intends to tap and expand.
