Pensyarah rugi RM294,000 diperdaya sindiket penyamaran pegawai polis

KUANTAN: Seorang pensyarah kerugian sebanyak RM294,000 selepas dipercayai menjadi mangsa penipuan sindiket penyamaran yang mendakwa sebagai pegawai syarikat e-dagang dan anggota polis.

Ketua Polis Pahang Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman berkata lelaki berusia 44 tahun itu telah menerima satu panggilan telefon pada 30 April lepas daripada individu yang mengaku sebagai wakil syarikat e-dagang serta mendakwa nombor telefon mangsa telah digunakan dalam aktiviti penipuan.

“Mangsa kemudian disambungkan kepada individu lain yang menyamar sebagai pegawai polis dan menuduh mangsa terlibat dalam kes pemalsuan dokumen serta pengubahan wang haram. Suspek turut mengugut mangsa dengan hukuman penjara dan sebatan,” katanya dalam satu kenyataan hari ini.

Beliau berkata suspek juga mengarahkan mangsa untuk melapor diri lima kali sehari melalui telefon, aplikasi WhatsApp dan panggilan video.

Akibat panik dengan ugutan terbabit, beliau berkata mangsa telah membuat 17 transaksi ke 11 akaun bank berbeza menerusi perbankan dalam talian dan Mesin Deposit Tunai (CDM), melibatkan jumlah keseluruhan RM294,000.

“Wang itu diperoleh daripada simpanan peribadi, simpanan keluarga serta pinjaman bank,” katanya.

Dalam pada itu, Yahaya turut menasihati orang ramai supaya tidak mudah panik sekiranya menerima panggilan mencurigakan, dan segera membuat semakan dengan pihak polis atau agensi berkaitan.

“Masyarakat juga digalakkan untuk membuat semakan nombor akaun dan nombor telefon yang diterima melalui pautan https://semakmule.rmp.gov.my sebelum melakukan sebarang transaksi kewangan,” katanya.
